The California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum (CWEMF) and the California Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) Delta Modeling Section are jointly conducting a technical workshop to review DWR’s work in developing and enhancing models for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and Suisun Marsh.  Each year the Delta Modeling Section prepares a report documenting it’s methodologies for the State Water Resources Control Board in accordance with Water Right Decision 1485.  The August 19 workshop will include the following topics:

  • Background and Overview (Tara Smith, DWR)
  • Development of the Adjusted Astronomical Tide (Eli Ateljevich, DWR)
  • Use of Practical Salinity Unit as a Salinity Parameter (Bob Suits, DWR)
  • Validation of DOC Simulation (Parviz Nader-Tehrani, DWR)
  • REALM - Concept paper on new model development (Ralph Finch/Eli Ateljevich, DWR)
  • Roundtable on modeling issues of Delta hydrodynamics and water quality (All)
  • Wrap-up (K.T. Shum, EBMUD)

This workshop is intended to be a forum to allow plenty of interactions between Delta Modeling Section staff and stakeholders to discuss recent developments on DSM2 and other modeling issues concerning the Delta and Suisun Marsh.  Each presentation will be followed by ample opportunity for discussion.

There is no charge for CWEMF members to attend the workshop. The charge for non-members is $50, which is the cost for individual CWEMF membership. For more information about the CWEMF or to become a member, please visit our information page.
